The Cross River State Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Alphonsus Eba, has called on youths and residents of the State to shun the plans on nationwide protest, saying the party will embark on solidarity march to appreciate the efforts and achievements of President Bola Tinunu and Governor Bassey Otu.

Addressing journalists in the state Thursday, Eba said that why protest is a constitutional right, it also has contradiction if would threatened the lives and properties of the citizens.

“We want to use this medium to appeal to Nigerians, especially residents of Cross River State, for the sake of God, our dear country and particularly for the sake nationhood, let us not go to the street to destroy lives and vandalize our properties,” he said.

“As a party, we shall embark on solidarity march in support of the efforts and commitment of our leaders. we have taken this measure to solidarize with our Governor as a way of encouraging him to do more. We shall do solidarity with Mr President for all the wonderful things he has done.”

He noted that the APC rally would be embarked across different streets not to protest against the government, but to demonstrate gratitude to God for the duo of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State and to roll out their achievements to the people.

He also said that the APC stakeholders shall use the period of this demonstration to meet and convey the achievements and commitments of President Tinubu and Governor Otu to different groups including, Youth forums, religious organizations, Labour leaders, students unions, support groups, farmers, civil servants, NURT, independent marketers and other bodies.

He recounted the huge destruction recorded in the state during the 2020 Endsars mass protest and said that properties and lives were damaged and the State is yet to recover fully from the aftermaths of the Endsars destructions.

“We are appealing that now we have heard your voices, we also feel your pains. But with the security reports we have received, it will not be too good to experience the calamity that befell us four years ago in the name of Endsars,” he added.

“In Cross River State, Governor Otu has brought sweetness, including payment of gratuities to retired citizens, and Payment for WAEC fees for students across the state, he should be appreciated and encouraged. We should not go out to vandalize the amenities he has provided for the well-being of the state”, Eba said.

He further added that it is time to commend the President’s policy, and renewed hope programs starting from the Students’ loan scheme, the consumers credits, intervention in agriculture, through tractorisation, mechanisation, land clearing provisions, provision of seeds and fertilisers free of charge to address the issue of hunger in the country.
