The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) says normal train services between Kaduna-Rigasa and Idu Abuja continue uninterrupted despite the minor derailment incident on Sunday at Jere station.
The NRC in a statement signed by Yakub Mahmood, a deputy director of public relations, confirmed that all passengers onboard the affected Kaduna-Rigasa to Idu Abuja train arrived safely at their destinations.
The incident occurred when a train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja reportedly derailed at Jere, approximately an hour after departure at 8:05 am. According to reports, three carriages went off the tracks during the incident.
However, the swift response from NRC engineers dispatched to the site saved the situation.
Despite the inconvenience caused to affected passengers, the Nigerian Railway Corporation Management expressed regret and emphasised their commitment to passenger safety and comfort at all times.
“The management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation hereby informs the general public, especially our valued passengers that normal passenger train services between Kaduna-Rigasa, Idu Abuja continue despite a minor derailment of our coach at Jere station this morning.
“All the passengers on board the Kaduna-Rigasa to Idu Abuja arrived at their respective destinations safely, the NRC said.
