Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, Director General /CEO of the Raw Materials Research Development Council, has said that the first edition of ‘The Africa Raw Materials Summit 2025’ to be held from May 20-22, 2025, in Abuja will shape Africa’s resource landscape

Speaking at a briefing with the media in Abuja on Monday, the DG said, “The summit aims to address the critical challenges Africa faces with value addition of its raw materials.”

He added, “The summit will, among other issues, focus on economic diversification and industrial growth strategies, investment opportunities in raw materials processing and infrastructure, sustainable extraction and value-addition techniques, and regional collaboration to enhance Africa’s position in the global raw materials market.

He also said that it would enable data-driven decision-making through the Raw Materials Information System (RMIS) and policy formulation and governance to foster responsible resource management.

Noting that the Africa Raw Materials Summit 2025 is a landmark event that will shape the future of Africa’s raw materials industry, he said the gathering was designed to bring together researchers, policymakers, investors, industrial leaders and key stakeholders across Africa and beyond to explore innovative ideas, foster strategic partnerships and develop actionable solutions for unlocking the full potential of Africa’s raw materials sector.

“The summit’s theme highlights our collective vision to leverage Africa’s vast natural resource wealth for sustainable industrialization, economic diversification, and global competitiveness,” he noted.

Ike-Muonso added that the programme for the Africa Raw Materials Summit 2025 had been carefully designed to facilitate impactful discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities over the three-day period.
