…As Port Harcourt Classic tees off

A handshake between the financial world and golf has taken place in Port Harcourt as the Norrenberger group signed a partnership deal with the Python International Gold Club of Port Harcourt.

The deal kick-started sponsorship of the Golf series known as the Norrenberger Port Harcourt Golf Classic, where over 12 awards would be won in the first edition, which started last weekend in the Garden City.

Norrenberger, which specialises in Asset Management, Investment Banking, Digital Banking, Securities, Insurance, Pensions, Development Finance, Lending, and Trust, was said to be leading the financial world to the handshake with the Golf world.

At the signing ceremony in the Norrenberger House, located in the D-Line area of Port Harcourt, before the tee-off, Norrenberger said the Golf Classic connects health to wealth.

Speaking after the signing, Ekene Okechukwu, head of Norrenberger in south-south, said the partnership comes at a time when general consciousness has been heightened around not just physical wellbeing but also more rounded physical, mental and financial wellness.

He said: “This is a partnership built on ‘Shared Values’. The Python International Gold Club of 6 Division, Port Harcourt, is renowned for its discipline, excellence, and community spirit: these are values that mirror Norrenberger’s corporate philosophy.”

He said Golfers understand the value of patience, strategy, and long-term vision. “These are the same principles that guide smart financial planning. With the Norrenberger Golf

Classic, we are creating a platform where physical fitness and financial fitness meet.

“At Norrenberger, we are committed to seeking out and providing innovative avenues for Nigerians to live long, healthy, and financially secure lives.”

He said the coming of the Norrenberger Golf Classic to Port Harcourt and the Niger Delta was to bring the Garden City to the national and international Golf map, which goes with the attention of high-net-worth individuals around the nation. He said it will boost job and wealth creation in the region, and galvanise the youths to action.

Okechukwu stated: “We are excited at the opportunities this partnership presents for the golfing community, the Python Golf Club and the financial industry here represented by Norrenberger, and as we commit and agree to this partnership, we are emboldened by the warm interplay and convergence of wealth and health, teeing off to a brighter future of endless possibilities.”

By tee off, over 1000 Golfers were expected in the Garden City with targets on youth development and wealth creation to promote grassroots development in the oil region. The tournament is titled ‘2026 Norrenberger International Golf Classic’ with Norrenberger Group as the headline sponsor. It is expected to attract business leaders, professionals, and golf enthusiasts to the Garden City.

Speaking at a news briefing before tee off, Bako Emmanuel, Python International Golf Club Competition Secretary, said the event would stimulate both micro and macro-economic activities in Rivers State. He lauded the Norrenberger Group for bringing the tournament to Port Harcourt, saying about 144 golfers were expected to play on Saturday, which was the first day of the tournament, and that there were about 600 golfers on the ground already.

Also speaking, Amani Momodu, Associate Director, Strategy and Sustainability at ‘Norrenberger Group’, said the tournament reflects the group’s dedication to community relations.

Loveday Deemua, Representative of Python International Golf Club, highlighted the sport’s broader benefits, including bonding across sectors, physical fitness, and interaction.
