Ogun state governor Dapo Abiodun has said those dissatisfied with the administration of President Bola Tinubu should wait for a change in government in the next three years.

Abiodun who featured as a guest on the Channels Television on Wednesday said the ongoing hunger protests are being sponsored by some faceless individuals.

“The problem we have today is that Nigerians are sore losers. If you want a regime change, wait till 2027. Don’t begin to sponsor faceless, leaderless protests,” Ogun State governor said.

He argued that the Tinubu-led administration was popularly elected through the mandate of the people and should be allowed to turn the country around.

Abiodun said Nigeria is not alone with economic crisis, calling for more constructive engagement with the government rather than taking to the streets.

“The current realities is not peculiar to Nigeria alone. There was protest in Ghana and London. The solution to headache is not to cut off the head,” he said while urging youths to continue to dialogue with the government.

Thousands of Nigerians have been on the streets demanding an end to bad governance and corruption, especially as hunger stifles people’s incomes.

Pockets of the protesters were seen shouting “we are hungry” in major cities of Africa’s biggest economy.

While the demonstration is expected to reach 10 days, violence and attacks have begun to erode the the planned “peaceful protest”.
