Nigerian Navy rolls out programme for 68th anniversary celebration

The Nigerian Navy has announced a programme of events for its 68th anniversary celebration beginning from May 24 to June 1, 2024.

The announcement was made at a press conference addressed by Rear Admiral JD Akpan, Chief of Policy and Plans.

According to Rear Admiral Akpan, the programmes lined up for the celebration include: Ships dressed overall, medical rhapsody, NOWA seminar and golf tournament.

Other activities to mark the anniversary include, flag off ceremony of Regional Maritime Exercise (REMEX), International Maritime Conference (IMC), Sailing competition, ceremonial sunset and launching of International Maritime Institute of Nigeria.

Highlighting on the 5th International Maritime Conference/Regional Maritime Exercise (IMCREMEX) 2024 holding from May 29 to June I, a flyer sighted by BusinessDay showed that the event would hold at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos.

It also announced that the conference would feature exhibition and sea exercise under the theme: ‘Promoting the Blue Economy in Africa through International Cooperation on Maritime Security.’

According to the programme of events released at the press conference, some of the activities would hold in Abuja, while some are slated for Lagos.
