Nigerian edu-tech innovator selected for US Mandela Washington Fellowship award

Julius Ilori, founder of Learners Corner Technology Edu-tech hub has been selected for the United States Department of State Mandela Washington Fellowship award for Young African leaders.

Ilori who is also the chief executive officer at the edu-tech hub was selected out of over 45,000 applications across sub–Saharan Africa.

According to the fellowship online portal, “The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the flagship programme of the U.S. government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).”

Since 2014, nearly 5,800 young leaders from every country in sub-Saharan Africa have participated in the fellowship.

The fellows, between the ages of 25 and 35, are accomplished leaders and have established records of promoting innovation and positive impact in their communities and countries.

Ilori, an internationally recognised education technology founder who is dedicated to empowering students and educators through innovative technology has over seven years of experience as a social impact leader creating positive impact in the education space.

He founded Learners Corner Technology Hub, the first edu-tech hub in West Africa working towards promoting access to quality education in Nigeria and beyond.

As a relentless advocate for quality education, Ilori has actively worked towards bridging gaps and fostering inclusivity in diverse communities.

In his current role as the technical lead for the Safe School Lagos project, and a consultant with the Lagos State Ministry of Education and the Lagos State Vocational and Technical Board, he has spearheaded impactful projects that promote education, healthcare, and sustainable development which empowers individuals and communities to thrive.

As the former state coordinator for the Young African Leaders Initiative Network (Lagos hub), he has collaborated with governments, NGOs, and corporate entities to implement sustainable solutions and drive progress at both local and global levels.

Ilori’s profound understanding of social dynamics and his ability to forge strategic partnerships have amplified the impact of his initiatives, enabling them to reach greater heights.

Beyond his exceptional professional accomplishments, Julius possesses a remarkable ability to inspire and mobilise others with captivating speeches and thought-provoking presentations

He has won numerous awards and recognitions, including GSFN Ambassador Award for Outstanding Leadership, YALI Leadership Award, and Civil Society SDGs Award for Quality Goal 4.
