NerdzFactory partners Oracle Academy to train tech entrepreneurs

Over 100 youths participated at the maiden edition of Technology Career LaunchPad programme recently held to equip young people with skills they need to launch a technology career or business.

The training was implemented by NerdzFactory Company, a leading human capital development firm that works with institutions, government and private sector to create economic opportunities for citizens. The programme was sponsored by Oracle through the Oracle Academy.

The virtual training was held over two days in May, with day one focusing on technology career pathways that are available for young people, and day two focused on business opportunities in technology for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The training featured leading technology professionals and entrepreneurs such Temitayo Fayomi, Toluwase Olaniyan, CEO of Worden Human Capital, David Lanre Messan, former curator of the Lagos Hub of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community and CEO of First Founders, Omoyele Falaiye, CEO of Thinkpeople Limited, Akinwande Akinsulire, Leading Business and Technology Consultant, Anakaa Gabriel, Leading Graphics and Product Designer and an Alumnus of NerdzFactory’s Design School Programme.

According to Ademulegun Olowojoba, founding partner of NerdzFactory, “NerdzFactory is always exploring ways to bring our mission of creating a prosperous future for Africa’s youth to life. We totally understand that by creating access to relevant technology and business skills for young people and by creating economic opportunities for them we are gradually improving the narratives for a lot of young people on the continent and we are glad to be working with an organisation like Oracle that shares a similar vision.

“We will continue to work with the private sector, civil society, government and institutions to ensure that young people have access to technology and business skills as well as decent jobs and economic opportunities.”

In her remarks, Bekere Amassoma, programmes associate, Oracle Academy sub-Saharan Africa, stated that Oracle Academy remained committed to computing education in Nigeria, and provides educators and their students with free relevant resources for teaching and learning. This includes curriculum, learning resources, Oracle cloud technologies, software, support, and professional certification resources.”

Participants also got access to resources that could help them kick-start their technology careers or businesses.
