NDE kicks off training for agric, packages loan beneficiaries in Abia

FG commits to empowering farmers to boost food security

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has kicked off an orientation programme in Abia State for beneficiaries of its various agricultural loan packages and Agricultural Extension Training programme respectively.

Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, director-general, NDE, in his speech during the event in Umuahia, urged the beneficiaries to take the training seriously.

Fikpo, who was represented by Chima Uzoma Ibeh, the Abia State Coordinator of NDE, disclosed that each of 100 beneficiaries in the state was entitled to N100,000.00 loan package and that the aim was in stepping up the fight against unemployment.

He urged them to make good use of the gesture by the Federal Government through NDE.

The director, Rural Employment Promotion (REP) department of NDE, Abuja national headquarters, was represented at the event by Chimaobi Ekeleme.

While also addressing the beneficiaries, Stella Chukwuekezie, head, REP, NDE, Abia State, implored the Agricultural Extension Training beneficiaries to be diligent in attending the training as attendance would be taken during the five- -day intensive training period.

She also reminded beneficiaries of the loan packages that the loan would be expected to be repaid under single-digit interest rates and advised them to utilize it for the purpose it was meant for.

Responding respectively on behalf of the beneficiaries, Wisdom Nwogwugwu and Wisdom Anunodu, both agricultural extension training beneficiaries, appreciated the NDE and by extension the federal government of Nigeria for its dogged fight against unemployment through the various schemes of the NDE.
