The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed communications professionals Agada Abuh Theophilus and Brian Dennis to lead its New Media and Strategic Communications Directorate. According to the party leadership, the appointments reflect a core commitment to enhancing engagement with Nigerians and building a more effective communication framework across both traditional and digital platforms.
Under the new structure, Agada assumes the role of Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, while Dennis will serve as Deputy Director. The appointments, formally announced by Osa Director, the national publicity secretary of the NDC, are expected to reinforce the opposition party’s outreach efforts as it seeks to expand its national influence and connect more effectively with citizens.
Profiles of the new directorate leadership
The NDC stated that both appointees bring a wealth of experience in strategic communications, public relations, political advocacy, and digital engagement—skills the party believes are critical to strengthening its voice in an increasingly competitive political environment.
Agada is a strategic communications professional with a track record spanning political campaigns, corporate brand management, institutional public relations, and new media management. An Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), he holds a Master of Arts degree in Development Communications, specialising in strategic communication for social and institutional development. He is also currently pursuing a PhD focused on election administration and management, a field the party notes aligns closely with its commitment to democratic governance and citizen participation.

Dennis is a communications analyst with seven years of experience in strategic and political communications. He holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution and has built distinct expertise in message development, stakeholder engagement, and political communication.
Institutional restructuring for broader national outreach
The NDC leadership expressed confidence that the duo would inject fresh energy and innovative ideas into the party’s communications operations, particularly in the areas of digital engagement and public outreach. The realignment is part of a broader institutional effort to ensure the party’s policies and programmes are effectively communicated to the public.
“The party is excited to welcome both appointees and looks forward to the energy, expertise, and fresh perspective they bring to its communications efforts,” the official statement noted. With the appointments taking immediate effect, the NDC remains confident that the new leadership will enhance the party’s visibility, strengthen its messaging, and deepen its connection with Nigerians as it expands its political footprint across the country.
