Is- haq Oloyede commissions JAMB mega CBT centre in Borno

Is- haq Oloyede, the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has commissioned a mega professional registration centre (PRC), donated by the Borno State government, just nine days to his exit from office.

Fabian Benjamin, the Ag director of public affairs and protocol at JAMB, made this known in a statement, disclosing that the outgoing registrar was accompanied by Segun Aina, his successor, during the unveiling of the mega computer-based test (CBT) on Wednesday.

Oloyede, speaking at the commissioning ceremony,  expressed profound appreciation to Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, for what he described as a monumental investment in education.

He noted that the facility would significantly ease the challenges faced by candidates across the North-East geopolitical zone seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

He commended the governor’s unwavering commitment to educational development, describing his support for JAMB and the education sector as exceptional.

According to him, the JAMB delegation had visited some of the smart schools established by the Borno State government and was impressed by the governor’s determination to make education the cornerstone of his administration.

Aina, the incoming JAMB registrar, applauded Zulum for the excellent partnership between the Borno State government and JAMB.

He called for the sustenance of the cordial relationship, noting that continued collaboration would further strengthen the board’s operations and advance educational development in the state.

The governor of Borno State in his remarks, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in education, describing it as the most effective means of addressing the state’s social and economic challenges.

He disclosed that the Borno State Government invested over #1 billion in the construction of the mega CBT centre, stressing that the long-term benefits of the project far outweigh its cost.

The ultra-modern facility, situated on a 5,300-square-metre expanse of land, is fully fenced and landscaped and is powered by a newly installed 300kVA transformer.

The main office complex comprises eight offices, three conference rooms, four registration areas, and 16 convenience facilities. The centre also features two computer-based test (CBT) halls, each equipped with 275 computers, enabling the facility to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily during examinations.

Besides, Benjamin revealed that the centre has two spacious waiting areas with a combined capacity of 500 candidates at a time, as well as six additional convenience facilities to ensure the comfort of candidates awaiting their examination sessions.

The foundation of the project was laid by the Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, on February 24, 2026. The project was completed in less than six months, ahead of the completion timeline earlier set by the governor.
