Nasarawa slashes land charges by 25% for prospective developers

Nasarawa State government has granted a 20-25 percent discount on the cost of land charges to prospective land developers and business enterprises in the state.

The Director-General, Nasarawa Geographical Information System, Sonny Agassi, announced the reduction on the directive of the state Governor, Abdullahi Sule, in a statement made available to BusinessDay in Lafia.

According to him, the gesture, which took effect since October 1, was to reduce the hardship land developers faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“His excellency Engineer Abdullahi Sule Executive Governor of Nasarawa State has approved the reduction of all outstanding payments on some land chargers,” the DG said in the statement.

The director-general also explained that the outstanding payments are in categories between N50 million and 100 million, respectively.

“Outstanding payments below N50 million have been reviewed downward by twenty per cent. Similarly, payment above N100 million have been reviewed downward by 25 percent,” he explained.

The statement said that land titles had been approved for collection by respective applicants, adding, “All applicants who submitted applications for titles that the service have process their documents and necessary R.Os and C of Os are now ready for collection.”
