Mariam, Sokoto indigene secures highest score of 201 in NCEE

NECO releases 2022 Nov/Dec exam results

Ajidagba Mariam Akanke, an indigene of Sokoto State, has secured 201 marks out of 300 to emerge top in the 2022 National Common Entrance Examinations (NCEE) into the Federal Government Colleges also known as Unity Schools.

Miriam is followed by Obot Abundance Idara, from Akwa Ibom, who scored 200, while the lowest score of 01, according to Adama Adama, minister of education, was by 15 candidates from various states.

Adamu, who announced the release of the results in Abuja on Monday, said all admission processes would be completed by the federal ministry of education on or before Friday, July 1, 2022.

According to Adama, who was represented by David Adejo, the permanent secretary of the ministry, the NCEE is still the most competitive examination into secondary schools in Nigeria, administered every year to Nigerian children both at home and abroad.

He urged parents/guardians to visit NECO website: www.neco.gov.ng for details of the results of their children/wards.

On the number of students that sat for the 2022 National Common Entrance exams in Nigeria on Saturday, May 7, 2022, as well as Benin Republic and Togo, the minister informed that a total number of 71,738 pupils registered, with 34.030 being males and 37,708 being females.

He added that 96 percent, representing 68,638 pupils, sat for the examinations, while four percent 3,100 were absent. The minister further informed that Lagos State had the highest number of registered candidates with 19,518 pupils followed by the FCT, Anambra and Zamfara.

“The state that registered the least number of candidates is Kebbi, with 74 candidates,” he added.

Ibrahim Wushishi, the registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO), said the 2022 result was a marked improvement in terms of the performance of pupils, especially female candidates’ registration.
