Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge to attract N1,000 from 20 January

Ikoyi Link bridge
Motorists without electronic tags seeking to pass through the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, will have to pay a punitive toll of N1,000 as against normal N250 for a saloon car and N400 for an SUV.
The punitive toll fee is to discourage payment of cash at the toll plaza, following the decision of the state government toe fully implement  electronic payment at the toll plaza.
The electronic payment came into effect on January 2, 2020. Up till Sunday, January 19, 2020, the management of the toll plaza could still accept cash from motorists yet to migrate to the electronic payment platform.
But the state commissioner for transportstion, Frederick Oladeinde said this would no longer be acceptable from Monday, 20, 2020, the toll plaza goes full blast electronic payment
Oladeinde also warned against all corrupt practices such as photocopying payment vouchers for multiple usage or presenting fake e-payment devices.
“The state government will not hesitate to apply the law on any motorist that attempts to frustrate its effort at improving traffic situation along the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge corridor.
“The e-tags are free to obtain and widely available. Therefore, such sharp practices are unnecessary,” he said.
Oladeinde, who commended motorists in the state for enhancing success of the cashless toll implementation, called full compliance.
He said that the cashless toll initiative has the objective of removing bottlenecks at the toll gates and impacting positively on the reduction of traffic queue length and journey time for Lagosians.
