LASTMA rescues 13 injured commuters from grave road accident

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) rescued 13 injured commuters from a grave road accident involving a Volkswagen painted commercial bus (KSF 364 XC) and an Acura Jeep (MUS 99 GN) at a college bus stop along Ikotun-Igando.

According to Adebayo Taofiq, director, public affairs and enlightenment department LASTMA, investigations indicate that the Acura Jeep driver, succumbing to the perils of excessive speeding, momentarily lost concentration, veered off course, mounted the median, and catastrophically collided with an oncoming Volkswagen commercial bus laden with passengers.

“The sheer force of the impact inflicted grievous injuries on several commuters, including multiple fractures and other severe trauma,” he said.

Exhibiting unparalleled promptness, operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) executed a swift rescue operation, successfully evacuating 13 injured passengers—comprising eight males and five females.
