Kwara monarch seeks improved infrastructure development

Oba Sharafadeen Babalola, Onijagbo of Ijagbo on Sunday, stressed the need for increased infrastructural development including schools, hospitals and other projects in Ijagbo in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Babalola, who stated this in Ilorin at the reception programme for the traditional ruler, organised by the Ijagbo Descendants Union, Ilorin branch, charged all descendants to collaborate for socio-economic development.

The community, according to him, has seen large expansion, owing to economic activities, enterprises and people settling in the community.

Babalola, pointed out that Ijagbo people are reckoned with placing emphasis on education, and have produced eminent scholars and top Government officials in Nigeria.

He decried lack of secondary health facility which prompted the pregnant women to give birth at home, which is risky for both mother and child, calling on all the descendants union to collaborate and ensure a second healthcare facility is built in the community.

In his submission, Tunde Oyawoye, the National President of Ijagbo Descendants’ Union explained that the Union represents a rich tradition that binds the community together, not just in celebration, but in shared purpose and hope.

He expressed delight that the leadership of Babalola within a short period of time had served as a guide and connecting the people to their heritage and inspiring towards a prosperous future.

He assured that the descendants of Ijagbo would key in and support the traditional ruler in developing the community.

Earlier in his welcoming address, Samuel Akinola, a Professor and the Chairman of the Union, Ilorin Branch, commended the leadership of the traditional ruler on his developmental plans for the community.
