Kwara lCAN tasks governments on profitability index

Khadijat Adenola Yahaya, chairman llorin districts and society, Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) has charged government at all levels to promote profitability index for transparent and accountability in governance.

Yahaya, made the call while speaking during the presentation of merit award to two best graduating students of Accounting at Kwara State University, Malete.

She posited that corruption would be drastically reduced if professional Accountants were engaged in all Accounting process, pointing out that no professional would want to loose his/ her career for corruption.

“The state chapter of ICAN has been championing high level of professionalism and partnering relevant stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability with a view to stem the tide of corruption,” she added.

She explained further that the districts decided to honour the two best graduating students, Oyewole lbukunoluwa oyinloye and olayiwola Dapo Moses who graduated with Ist class and second class upper degree honours in Accounting respectively to encourage other students towards professionalism.

The ICAN Chairman noted that the districts would continue to encourage all activities and programmes towards enhancing the practice of Accounting profession with a view to encourage Nigerian students.
