Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Kano State governor and chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on Nigerians, particularly youths and first-time voters, to participate actively in the ongoing voter registration exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso made the appeal while addressing supporters at a political gathering, where he also commended the organisers for mobilising citizens toward political participation and grassroots engagement.
He urged members and supporters to formally register with the party to strengthen its electoral chances in the next general elections, stressing that political participation remains essential to shaping the country’s future.

The former presidential candidate also encouraged eligible Nigerians to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing voter registration as the first step toward ensuring citizens have a say in governance and leadership selection.
According to him, possession of a valid Permanent Voter Card (PVC) remains a constitutional requirement for participation in elections, warning that failure to register could deny citizens the opportunity to influence the democratic process.
Kwankwaso particularly appealed to young Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing registration exercise, noting that their participation would play a critical role in determining the country’s political direction in 2027.
