The kidnappers, who invaded Nigerian Army Estate in Abuja, have demanded a N30 million ransom for the release of the abducted victims.
In the Nigerian Army Estate in Kurudu, Abuja, kidnappers had targeted the residence of Cyril Adikwu on Thursday night around 10 pm. They had seized his wife and two in-laws, prompting a demand for a hefty ransom.
Adikwu, who managed to escape during the invasion, revealed that the kidnappers communicated with him, demanding over N30 million within a specified time frame.
Recounting the experience, he stated, “It all happened on Thursday night at about 10:00 pm when a vehicle containing those who were kidnapped drove into my compound, and then all of a sudden the kidnappers followed the vehicle into my compound.”
“There were about 8 of them, and they walked through the bush path over the hill to the other side. I was called to provide a ransom, I don’t want to mention the amount because already false information is everywhere in the media about the whole incident, but I can assure you it’s more than 30 million.”
Adikwu disclosed that the kidnappers have been in contact, emphasizing the urgency imposed by their given time frame.
An estate resident, requesting anonymity, affirmed that the estate management, in collaboration with security agencies, is actively engaged in efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims.
They assured the public that measures are in place to ensure the victims’ safe return, stating, “We assure you that we are working with security agencies to see that they are rescued unhurt.”
This incident sheds light on the growing security concerns within the area, prompting urgent efforts from law enforcement agencies to ensure safety in the FCT.
