Kaduna revenue service seals telecommunication masts over unpaid N5.8bn taxes

Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service on Thursday closed six telecommunication masts over unpaid taxes amounting to N5.8 billion.

Aysha Ahmad, KADIRS’ Board Secretary and Legal Adviser disclosed that the seal of the masts was to ensure companies who fail to discharge their civic duty of tax payment comply.

She said, “As usual, we are left with no option than the powers vested on us by the law to enforce compliance. This is why we are restraining on the premises.”

She noted that tax payment is a civic duty of every citizen as the closure was a crucial approach towards meeting the state government’s revenue target of N120 billion.

Shamsuddeen Lere, who is the Legal Adviser of the state Urban Planning Development Authority added that notices had been issued to affected telecommunication masts but they ignored it.

The affected telecommunication masts are: MTN servers at Tafawa Balewa road, Surami road, Etsu road, Globacom server at Shehu Laminu road and a general mast (ATC) at Unguwan Rimi, Nagwamatse road, Mudassir and Brothers (Mudatex) textile materials outlet located at Ahmadu Bello Way, Al-Babello Trading Company Ltd,
