Umar Namadi, governor of Jigiwa State has approved N833 million for payment of Indigenous students’ National Examinations Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) registration charges.
According to a statement signed by Sagir Ahmed, the commissioner of information, youth, sport, and culture, the payment covers the payment for 39,709 candidates who wrote the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), NECO, National Teachers Certificate (NTC), NABTEB, SAIS/STQ and NBAIS examinations.
Ahmed in the statement disclosed that the governor’s approval of the fund was one of the major decisions taken at the State Executive Council meeting held recently at the government house in Dutse, the state capital.
Besides, the statement revealed that other fallout from the meeting included approval of N922 million as contract continuation payment for the ongoing maintenance/rehabilitation of Auyo -Kafin Hausa Road to ALREN Construction Company Limited.
Moreover, the Jigiwa State government endorsed an additional award of Consultancy Services of N16.1 million for Innovative Engineering Consultants.
The sum of N40 million was approved for the continuation of support to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state. This was done in tandem with the sum of one billion naira earlier approved by the state executive council to the project account.
Meanwhile, the sum of N179.2 million was also approved for disbursement as direct facility financing (DFF) to the accredited Primary Health Care centres (PHCs) and an additional 17 PHCs across the 281 political wards in the state for the first and second quarter of 2024 by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
The monthly stipend for the 79 midwives, community influencers, promoters, and services (CHIPS) agents received the sum of NN69.2 million.
