JAMB announces cognitive, verbal reasoning tests for 2024 DE

JAMB reveals 3,000 fake graduates in Nigeria

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that Direct Entry candidates (DE) for its 2024 examination would undertake cognitive and verbal reasoning tests henceforth.

Is-haq Oloyede, registrar, and chief executive officer at JAMB made this known during a virtual meeting with commissioners of education of the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to JAMB bulletin published on Monday, December 11, 2023, Oloyede said; “As from 2024, JAMB will conduct aptitude test for all Direct Entry candidates to assess their academic potential or career suitability, as well as their mental or physical capacity.”

The former vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin in addition said; “It is an intelligent test that will measure the candidate’s current cognitive skills and will not be the usual subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, Government, Physics, etc.”

The registrar further explained that the aptitude test would comprise the following, Verbal, Abstract, Mechanical and Numeric Reasoning, Data Checking, and Work Sampling.

Oloyede also disclosed that the direct entry registration will be restricted to only JAMB offices across the country.

The JAMB chief executive office maintained that at the point of registration, candidates for the 2024 direct entry must provide the following information; Registration/Matriculation number of the previous school attended where the qualification was obtained; Subjects of qualification; Awarding institution; Institution attended; and year of graduation as well as admission letters where necessary.

Meanwhile, JAMB has fixed Monday, January 15 to Monday, February 26, 2024, for the sale of its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application forms.

The examination body also announced that the UTME mock examination is slated for March 7, 2024, while the main examination will be held from Friday, April 19, to Monday, April 29, 2024.
