Ilorin Varsity dedicates N50m to revive research grants

Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, the vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin on Wednesday disclosed that the institution through its research and innovation, has revived the Senate Research Grant (SRG) with the sum of N50m.

The professor made this known while briefing journalists ahead of the 37th/38th convocation ceremony scheduled for Friday, October 20, Saturday, 21, and Monday, 23, 2023.

The vice-chancellor said, “Nine out of the several applications received demonstrated strong potential and alignment with the objectives of the Senate Research Grant and they are in line with our proposed research groups based on the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs.

To this end, the sum of N49,380,000 has been approved for that purpose.

“We believe these projects have the capacity to significantly contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the various research clusters in the university.

“Our researchers have been relentless in their pursuit of knowledge, and we have seen ground-breaking research projects that have the potential to shape the future.”

Egbewole that 25,234 students would participate in the 37th/38th convocation ceremonies.
