Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Seun Kuti, after a viral video showed him assaulting a police officer. The announcement was written by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), Abuja and was posted for public notice on the Twitter handle of Benjamin Hundeyin, PRO Lagos State Police Command.
The incident which occurred on Saturday has since seen the singer explain on social media the reason for the outburst. Reacting via his Instastory on Saturday, Kuti said the officer attempted to kill him and his family members.

He said the policeman has apologized and he has forgiven him. He warned those saying he was chasing clout to mind their business and save the police officer from losing his job.
“He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job,” he said.
Hundeyin also wrote that the IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly. He also assured Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of these crimes will be brought to book.
