The Yobe State Government (SSG) has pledged to pursue an additional N1 billion recapitalisation of Yobe Microfinance Bank to strengthen its operations and expand its impact across the state.
Mohammed Goje, acting Secretary to the Yobe State Government, stated this when he received the Management and Staff of Yobe Microfinance Bank on a congratulatory visit to his office in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
He commended the management and staff for their dedication, professionalism, and resilience in transforming the Bank into a viable financial institution, contributing to the economic development of Yobe State.
Goje expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded by the Bank and assured the management of his unwavering support in both his capacities as Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Board.
He further disclosed plans to seek Governor Mai Mala Buni’s approval for an additional N1 billion recapitalisation of the Bank, describing the intervention as a strategic step toward strengthening the institution’s financial capacity, expanding access to credit, and enhancing its ability to serve the people of Yobe State and beyond.
Leading the delegation, the Managing Director of the Bank, Sheriff Almuhajir, congratulated Goje on his appointment and informed him that by virtue of his new office, he automatically assumes the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yobe Microfinance Bank.
Almuhajir noted that the Bank would greatly benefit from the SSG’s leadership, guidance, and support in sustaining its impressive growth trajectory and enhancing service delivery to citizens across Yobe State.
He highlighted key achievements recorded by the Bank since 2019, including the successful recapitalisation of physical and institutional assets, the recruitment and training of staff, and the deployment of modern ICT infrastructure, which have significantly improved service delivery and promoted financial inclusion throughout the state.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration and promoting sustainable socio-economic development across the state.
