FMBN moves to partner Benue govt on provision of housing

As part of efforts to bridge the increasing housing deficit in the Country, especially in Benue State, Shehu Usman Osidi, Managing Director, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), has said that the bank is willing to provide adequate funding for any housing projects initiated by Benue State Government.

The mortgage bank boss stated this during a technical visit on him by Tiza Isaac Imojime, the Benue State Commissioner for works, Housing and Urban Development, in his office at FMBN Corperate Headquarters in Abuja, recently.

Osidi, who informed the Honourable Commissioner of the bank’s willingness to offer its existing housing stocks at discounted prices to the people of Benue State in recognition of the Governor Hyacinth Alia’s remarkable disposition towards housing development in the State, noted that the mortgage had resolved to bridge the housing deficit through partnership with the State Governments and other critical stakeholders in the sector.

Imojime, the Works Commissioner, who had earlier briefed the Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria of the phenomenal developments being recorded in Benue State by the Governor Hyacinth Alia-led Administration, especially as it concerns the regular payment of salaries to State Civil Servants, assured the FMBN of workers’ capacities to purchasing housing stocks as the payment had greatly increased the purchasing power of the contributors to the National Housing Fund.

Imojime, while stressing the need of FMBN to consider significant number of Benue Civil Servants to benefiting from the bank’s flagship Home Renovation fund, applauded the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria for the efforts made so far in ensuring that Nigerians benefit from its housing programmes.
