At least seven buildings were on Wednesday gutted by fire in Balogun Market, on Martins Street, Lagos Island.
The fire was said to have started from a four-storey building located at 35/37 Balogun Street, from where it spread to other buildings in the area before the Fire Service arrived.
The building eventually collapsed.
Another five-storey building located next to the one from which the fire started, and another 10-storey building were among those affected.
Femi Oke-Osayintolu, managing director of Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), who confirmed the inferno, however, said no life was lost but heavy losses in material resources recorded.
Among the responders to save the situation were LASEMA Sharks, Lagos State Fire, Federal Fire, Nigeria Ports Authority Fire, Lasambus, Nigeria Police, who were seen combating the fire.
