The joint task force of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has given illegal squatters in the Apo Dutse scrap market, Dutse District, one week to relocate.
Mukhtar Galadima, the coordinator of the FCT management joint task team and director of development control, said the task force received an intelligence report of challenges associated with robbery cases in the area.

Galadima said the place had earlier been demolished before by a previous administration, adding that sensitisation was carried out to the squatters to relocate or face demolition within one week.
He noted that the place has been allocated for residential purposes and the team would clear the area for the owners to take over their plot and begin development.
Peter Olumiji, secretary of command and control, explained that the task force has been receiving reports of criminal activities and attacks on the estate. Once the area is cleared, it will reduce the crime rate within the district.
Olumiji added that the task team has given the squatters time to leave.
