FCT Police arrest ex-convict for alleged murder in Dantata village

Police rescue kidnap victim, recover ₦3m ransom in Kebbi

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested Iliayasu Mohammed, a 23-year-old ex-convict, for the alleged murder of his friend, Safillahi Muhammad, in Dantata Village.

According to a statement signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, officers responded to a distress call at about 1:30 PM, leading to the swift apprehension of the suspect.

According to the Police, preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed lured the victim to his home and served him food before launching a brutal attack with a cutlass.

“The victim sustained multiple deep wounds to the head and body and was found unconscious in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead”, the statement reads.

It also noted that further investigations uncovered Mohammed’s criminal past, with police confirming that he is an ex-convict. During interrogation, he admitted to the killing and disclosed his involvement in a criminal gang that targets motorcyclists.

According to the statement, the gang, allegedly led by a suspect identified as Hassan, is currently under police pursuit.

The Command said that it has intensified efforts to track down other members of the syndicate who are on the run, adding that Mohammed will be charged in court upon completing the investigation.

Olatunji Disu, FCT Commissioner of Police has urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement.
