Fayose, ex-Ekiti gov, named REA chairman as Tinubu makes 26 appointments

President Bola Tinubu has announced Ayo Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointment, according to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, is among the 26 new appointments into 10 Federal Government Agencies and Commissions.

The President also appointed Junaid Bindawa, a retired Major General, as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).

This is just as Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Makinta were appointed as members and Non-Executive Directors of the REA.

“The incumbent DG of the Agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three Executive Directors previously appointed make up the remaining Board members”, Onanuga said.

President Tinubu also approved the appointment of eight others into the Wages Commission.

Former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed as new Secretary of the Commission, while Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, and Yakubu Umar Barde, representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna, were appointed as Commissioners.

Others include Mai Adamu Yau, from Borno, Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi), who were appointed as members of the Commission.

Onanuga said Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), had been moved to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission as Secretary.

President Tinubu also appointed Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as chairman/CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Julius Oloro, a former Council Chairman, was named the new CEO of the Kwara-based National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation(NCAM), replacing A.R. Kamal, who died last January.

President Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, with the appointment of Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.

Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola were also appointed to the organisation

The President also appointed Muhammad Dahiru as the new executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.

President Tinubu named Gisaor Vincent Iorja. Iorja, an economist, legal scholar, and academic, is currently serving as the secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), to replace Mathias Byuan, the former executive director, finance of the Federal Housing Authority, who resigned to contest the governorship election in Benue State,

Onanuga said, “All the appointments take immediate effect.”
