The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reinforced its commitment to Africa through development, innovation and humanitarian actions.

This was noted by Saud Rashid Al-Hajilan, first Vice President of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council and President of the International Federation of Asian and African Trade Unions.

In a statement marking Union Era Day, Al-Hajilan praised the UAE’s leading role at the regional and international levels, highlighting its model of wise diplomacy and humanitarian action, as well as its steadfast commitment to supporting security, stability, dialogue and cooperation among nations.

He affirmed that Union Era Day represents a timeless milestone in the history of the United Arab Emirates and embodies the visionary leadership of the late Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who, together with the founding fathers, laid the foundations of a union that has become a global model of unity, development and stability.

He added that, under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the country continues to build on Sheikh Zayed’s legacy by strengthening its global standing through humanitarian initiatives and an active role in promoting peace and sustainable development, reflecting the values upon which the nation was founded.

This commitment is reflected in the UAE’s growing development partnership with Africa, where it continues to expand trade and economic cooperation while investing in resilient infrastructure, healthcare, education, renewable energy and food security.

Through institutions such as the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, the UAE continues to finance and oversee major infrastructure projects that enhance regional connectivity, stimulate economic growth and improve quality of life in partner countries.

The UAE’s $1 billion AI for Development initiative further reinforces this commitment by supporting artificial intelligence projects across African countries, strengthening digital infrastructure, enhancing government services and improving productivity to advance sustainable development and innovation-driven growth.

Al-Hajilan congratulated the UAE’s leadership and people on the occasion of Union Era Day, wishing the nation continued progress, prosperity and success in serving humanity and promoting peace and stability at the regional and international levels.
