Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparent, accountable and result-driven governance, declaring that all strategic projects under the ARISE Agenda must be delivered within stipulated time frame for the benefit of the people.
The governor made the declaration at the conclusion of the two-day July State Delivery Meeting in Uyo, where his administration undertook a comprehensive review of ongoing projects across critical sectors of the state’s economy.
He described the monthly delivery meeting, as a vital accountability mechanism that enables the government to assess project implementation, evaluate performance, resolve implementation challenges and strengthen coordination among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
According to him, the review sessions have become indispensable in ensuring that every government project delivers measurable value to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Quoting the Greek philosopher Socrates, Governor Eno said, “An unexamined life is not worth living,” stressing that periodic evaluation remains essential to effective governance and sustainable development.
Governor Eno thanked heads of MDAs, Delivery Advisors, contractors and other stakeholders for their dedication throughout the rigorous two-day exercise.
He said that his administration was entering its “harvest season” as it gradually approaches the end of its first term, assuring residents that observations and recommendations from the meeting would be translated into improved service delivery and more efficient project implementation.
This is as the Governor reaffirmed his resolve to complete all ongoing projects within schedule and charged implementing agencies to maintain momentum and uphold the highest standards in project execution.
In a demonstration of his hands-on leadership style, the governor made an unscheduled inspection visit to the ARISE Palm Resort before the commencement of the second day’s session.
The tourism facility, built on a reclaimed 73-hectare gully erosion site, is expected to be commissioned later this year.
The governor said that the visit was to personally verify progress reports presented during the meeting.
The review covered strategic projects spanning agriculture, trade and investment, maritime and transportation, healthcare, housing, tourism, internal security, local government administration and other flagship initiatives under the ARISE Agenda.
In the agricultural sector, presentations focused on the Ibom Model Farm, Agric Equipment Leasing Company, Distribution of Oil Palm Seedlings Programme, Dakkada Global Oil Palm Project and the Akwa Ibom Agricultural Development Programme (AKADEP), with emphasis on mechanised agriculture, food security and employment generation.
