Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has given the assurance that his administration will continue to foster a friendly business environment that will attract more investors to the State.
The governor made this known at the opening of a new Branch of Premium Trust Bank in Uyo, the State capital on Monday.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Akon Eyakenyi, Governor Eno noted that his administration remains focused on the sustenance of peace and security in the State, as a measure for attracting investments, promoting tourism and ensuring the economic prosperity of the people.
While emphasising the importance of partnership with the financial services sector in driving the State’s economic growth through Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs), the governor expressed delight at the bank’s intentional programmes to support the development of youths in the country, expressing optimism that with the establishment of its presence in the State, such benefits will be extended to Akwa Ibom youth.
“As someone from the private sector, I understand the need to create an enabling environment which can attract investors and help them maximize profits while creating jobs for our youth and helping to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base of the State. There is absolutely no doubt that the establishment of a Branch of Premium Trust Bank in this State is a response to our efforts in promoting Ease of Doing Business. Of course, business and peace are inseparable.
