…Backs Adeola, says APC guber candidate will prioritize student welfare

Tijani Habeeblahi Adekunle, the newly elected Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun Joint Campus Committee (JCC) has stated that the education sector requires deliberate investment and student-centered policies to restore quality education in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Adekunle, a former Students Union Government (SUG) President of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) between 2022 and 2023, emerged Ogun NANS JCC chairman at the association’s convention said under his leadership would engage stakeholders and ensure that student interests remain on the front burner as the 2027 election approaches.

He added that his administration would prioritize unity among campuses and constructive engagement with the government, while also holding leaders accountable to commitments made to Nigerian students.

The convention was chaired by Damilola Kehinde Simeon, whose Independent Convention Planning Committee was saddled with the duty to conduct the election.

Expressing optimism that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, will prioritize student welfare and the development of the education sector if elected in 2027,noted that Adeola understands the challenges confronting campuses in the state.

In his maiden press statement issued and signed by him, he commended Governor Dapo Abiodun and other leaders of the APC for the choice of Adeola as the party’s governorship flag bearer for the 2027 general election.

He described the senator’s emergence as a decision that would benefit the student community across the state.

The new NANS JCC chairman noted that Adeola, as a serving senator, has consistently organized annual bursary awards and scholarships across Ogun State.

He declared that the senator would “do more to ameliorate sufferings of students when he assumes office as the governor,” citing his track record of interventions in education.

Adekunle stated that the education sector requires deliberate investment and student-centered policies, and expressed confidence that Adeola understands the challenges confronting campuses in the state.

Saying that the senator’s legislative experience and outreach to students place him in a strong position to deliver on promises to the academic community, however pledged to mobilize students in Ogun State in support of the senator before, during, and after the poll next year.
