The Edo State Government has solicited the support and cooperation of residents to end the menace of land grabbing.
Tony Ikpasaja, managing director, Edo State Geographic Information Service (EdoGIS), made the disclosure during his maiden meeting with the staff members of the agency in Benin City recently.
The new EdoGIS boss said that the government was poised to end the menace of land grabbing in record time.
He said that the government also frowned at the menace of land racketeering on government lands in Auchi in Edo North Senatorial District.
According to Ikpasaja, his leadership is to broaden the revenue base of the agency in line with the governor’s directive and seek ways of encouraging the entire workforce through various incentives that will positively impact on their welfare.
The MD hinted that he was already aware of reported incidents of land grabbing in parts of the state, the latest being in the Auchi area of Edo North, and cautioned staff members not to collaborate with unscrupulous elements to promote the unwholesome activity.
He advised them to always come early to work and be committed to their assigned tasks in order to meet the target of the agency, promising that he will bring back necessary incentives to encourage them.
The interactive session afforded the staff members the opportunity to ask questions to which answers were provided, while the MD promised to run an open-door policy anchored on confidentiality.
It will be recalled that on his resumption as the new managing director of EDOGIS on January 6, 2025, Ikpasaja hit the ground running when he met with the management team that led him on a guided tour of the departments and units where he interfaced with members of staff at their duty posts.
