Edo accredits 22 facilities for health insurance scheme in 3 LGAs

The scheme would assist the residents by reducing out-of-pocket spending and improve access to sustainable healthcare services.

Edo State Health Insurance Commission has accredited 21 healthcare facilities to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services to beneficiaries of the state health insurance scheme.

Addressing journalists, director-general, Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Rock Amegor, said the scheme would assist the residents by reducing out-of-pocket spending and improve access to sustainable healthcare services.

The commission, he said, accredited ten health facilities in Oredo Local Government Area (LGA), six in Egor LGA, and five in Ikpoba-okha LGA.

“The Health Service Standard and Claims Department in charge of the accreditation of these facilities has been on a routine inspection visit to various facilities in Benin City to ensure that only qualified facilities are accredited for the scheme,” he said.

The director, Health Service Standard and Claims, Osayuki Edosa- Iyayi, said “27 facilities have been accredited for just primary and BHCPF Services, while eight healthcare facilities have been accredited for primary and secondary services.”
