DSS arrests Miyetti Allah president over creation of vigilante group

Eid-el-Fitr: DSS calls for security alert at prayer grounds

Department of State Services (DSS) operatives have arrested Bello Bodejo, the president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, in Nasarawa State, over creating a vigilante group.

Bodejo was arrested at the Miyetti Allah headquarters near Goshen Church on Tuesday afternoon.
DSS and Nigerian Army personnel reportedly surrounded the location before driving off with Bodejo.

A DSS source confirmed the arrest, citing concerns the “Nomad’s Vigilante Group” could incite violence. The source highlighted the group’s lack of registration with authorities, rendering it unrecognised by the federal government.

“Our operatives and Nigerian Army soldiers apprehended Miyetti Allah National President Bello Bodejo today for establishing an unregistered vigilante group posing a potential threat to national security,” the source stated.

DSS spokesperson Dr. Peter Afunanya did not respond to calls or messages seeking comment.

Bodejo previously emphasised the vigilantes’ commitment to obeying laws during operations. He urged them to collaborate with security agencies for improved security across Nasarawa’s 13 local councils.
