Delta takes action on roads maintenance, bans indiscriminate usage

Delta State Government has taken a decisive action to maintaining quality and longevity of its road infrastructure, banning the mixing of concrete on tarred roads and pavements across the State.

The ban which became effective Thursday, January 16, was announced by Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information.

Aniagwu said that the action aims at addressing the increasing damage caused to public infrastructure by this practice.

The ban, which was contained in a statement signed by Aniagwu, expressed concern over the indiscriminate mixing of concrete by workmen directly on road surfaces and pavements.

He said, “The practice has led to significant defacing and deterioration of these infrastructures, which are vital to the State’s ongoing development efforts.

“The Delta State Government has invested heavily in the construction and maintenance of road infrastructure to enhance connectivity and economic growth.

“It is disheartening to see these efforts undermined by the reckless actions of individuals who mix concrete directly on these surfaces. We will not stand by and allow this to continue”.
