Customs set to auction 257 cars, other 39 items today

Customs auctions 462 vehicles for N556.7m in five weeks

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has uploaded about 257 vehicles and 39 other items for auction in the second round of its e-auction exercise slated for today Tuesday, January 23, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Service did not give a breakdown of the 39 other items that are to be auctioned as well as the online bidding exercise that holds from 12 noon to 6 pm.

A check on the e-auction portal shows that about 1,809 potential bidders have registered to bid for the listed items.

Also, reports have shown that about 86 vehicles were won by bidders on the first day of the e-auction exercise. The winners emerged on Tuesday, January 16 out of 1,099 registered applicants and 1,137 bids.

Though successful bidders were reported last week participants complained of different forms of challenges experienced in the e-auction system, which made it impossible for them to participate in the exercise.

According to them, the portal logged them out during the bidding hours refusing them access to bid.
