A Deputy Superintendent of Nigeria Customs Service, T. A. Ashafa has been killed in a road accident, while other unspecified number of persons were injured.
Ashafa was travelling from Edo State to Lagos State in the early hours of Thursday when the fatal accident involving the officer occurred on the Benin-Lagos Expressway.
Investigation revealed that the Customs officer’s corpse was taken to Okada Division of the Nigeria Police station in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Spokesman for the Nigeria Police, CSP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the tragic incident, did not give details.
He however, said that the deceased remains had been handed over to the Customs officer’s family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites by DPO, Okada Division.
CSP Yamu said; “For the Customs officer that died, I can confirm. His Corpse has been handed over to his family for burial according to Islamic rites.”
