Court to hear Ibadan stampede suspects’ bail application on Monday

Court to rule on key applications on 27 lawmaker fate January 21, 2025

Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has fixed January 13th to decide on the bail applications filed by Naomi Sikekunola, ex-Queen of Ooni of Ife, Oriyomi Hazmat and Fasasi Abdulahi.

Counsel to the suspects had earlier filed an application for bail before the Court.

But on Tuesday, Justice K.B. Olawoyin after listening to the submission and arguments of the Counsel, adjourned the ruling on the bail application to Monday, 13th January, 2025.

The suspects were represented in the Court by Musibau Adetunmbi, (SAN) and Adekunle Sobaloju, (SAN ) and Waheed Olajide.

The suspects are currently being remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre at Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

Recall that the Christmas funfair which resulted in stampede occurred at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, claiming lives of at least 35 children on December 18, 2024

The ex-Queen of Ooni of Ife,Naomi Silekunola, Oriyomi Hazmat ,a popular Broadcaster and Owner of Agidigbo FM as well as Fasasi Abdulahi, the Principal of Muslim High School, Basorun were arrested for their involvement, detained before they were taken to Magistrate Court in Ibadan.
