Commercial dairy ranchers hold conference on dairy development

The Commercial Dairy Ranchers Association of Nigeria (CODARAN) has announced that it will host a conference to mark the 2021 World Milk Day and on critical issues around sustainable national dairy sector and value chain in Nigeria.

This was made known in a statement made available to Businessday by the association.

The conference themed ‘Strengthening the Local Dairy Sector in Nigeria: Addressing the Pain-points for Sustainable Impact’ is slated for June 1, 2021, at the NAF conference centre and suites, Kado District, Abuja.

Speakers at the conference will include Fred Kafeero, the Nigeria and ECOWAS representative of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), and other stakeholders from academia and across the value chain.

The conference will provide a platform for stakeholders in the dairy industry to meet, share experiences, network, and explore ways of addressing the industry’s most critical issues for sustainable growth.

A panel of discussants will also dissect the conference theme while highlighting the value of backward integration in strengthening the local dairy sector.

Other topics to be covered during the conference include: Dairy business and Nigeria’s POST-COVID economic outlook: Trends and opportunities, Investing in midstream operations: Path to sustainable milk supply in Nigeria, Why dairy projects and businesses fail, To ranch or not to ranch? Contextualizing production systems for long-term profitability, and Backward integration in Nigerian dairy – Lessons from the advancing local dairy development in Nigeria.
