BusinessDay’s Lehlé Baldé listed among Forbes Africa 30 under 30

Lehlé Baldé, the editor for Businessday Weekender has been listed as 2022 Forbes Africa 30 under 30.

Baldé was in the spotlight alongside 29 other Africans under the age of 30, featured for being innovative entrepreneurs, tech geeks, sports stars, and influential creatives contributing to the continent’s growth story.

Baldé started at BusinessDay in 2017 as a digital associate before becoming the current editor for Businessday Weekender.

Baldé is the only Senegalese on the list with South Africans topping the list.

Others on the list are nationals from Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon, Malawi, Namibia and Uganda.

For the eighth consecutive year, Forbes Africa released its coveted annual 30 Under 30 list, as a special June/July issue out on shelves now.

Every year, the list features Africans under the age of 30 who are innovative entrepreneurs, tech geeks, sports stars, and influential creatives contributing to the continent’s growth story.

In addition to these categories, all new is Health/Science to headline those on the frontline, to especially celebrate the young professionals, entrepreneurs and unlikely heroes set on reinventing the healthcare sector in Africa.

In previous years, the list has featured names such as Mr. Eazi, Antonio Depina, Lloyd Harris, Siya Kolisi, Kabza De Small, Sho Madjozi, Bruce Diale, Karabo Poppy, Thuso Mbedu, Nomzamo Mbatha, Burna Boy, Nthabiseng Mosia, Davido, Shamim Nabuuma Kaliisa, Nasty C and WizKid.

This year’s list focuses on money and meaning and the class of 2022 are shining a light on the issues plaguing Africa’s growth in a pandemic era as also working towards shifting the narrative in innovative ways.

The editorial team curating the list sifted through thousands of nominations that poured in from last year, researching them and verifying and vetting all candidates, guided by audit partner, SNG Grant Thornton, and a panel of esteemed judges and subject-matter experts on the continent.

“This year too, we are unveiling an all-new list of achievers and adding them to Africa’s growing community of Under 30s and will see much collaboration and partnerships emerge from that,” Renuka Methil, managing editor of Forbes Africa said.

“These are the people who have faced one of the most difficult times in history and refused to back down in the face of a global pandemic. If their firms, businesses and brands have grown during this period, it’s down to their resilience and win-no-matter-what dictum.”
