Buhari to see dentist in London, two weeks to handover

Buhari wants LDCs to tap bond issuance for infrastructure

President Muhammadu Buhari is staying back in the United Kingdom to see a dentist after attending the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla at the weekend.

The dentist, who has commenced examining the president, requested he stays back, according to an announcement by Bashir Ahmed, special assistant on Digital Communications to the President.

“The Specialist requires to see the President in another five days for a procedure already commenced,” Ahmed tweeted on Wednesday.

President Buhari left Nigeria to attend the coronation of King Charles last Saturday but his decision to stay back for medical reasons has irked critics, many of whom say they were tired of the pattern.

“The president can’t trust any dentist in this country to attend to him, yet your government is trying to force medical practitioners not to leave the country for where they will be appreciated. It’s a shame,” a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the opposition party posted via @rilwan_ola01 handle.

“It’s obvious that @MBuhari entered office in 2015 with an ear problem which later lasted for 8 months on a medical trip abroad. It will not be out of place if he finishes with a tooth problem, well-done baba,” another Twitter user, @PSnewsflash wrote reacting to Ahmed’s post.
