Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai has officially withdrawn from the Yobe State governorship race following extensive consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, elders, and supporters across the state.
In a powerful and emotional statement addressed to the people of Yobe State, Bomai described the decision as one taken in the supreme interest of unity, peace, and the collective progress of the state.
The Senator expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for His guidance throughout the political process and thanked his loyal supporters, political associates, women, youths, elders, and grassroots mobilizers for their unwavering commitment, sacrifices, prayers, and steadfast belief in his vision for a better Yobe State.
Bomai noted that his ambition was never driven solely by personal interest, but by a sincere desire to contribute meaningfully to the development, stability, empowerment, and prosperity of the state through purposeful leadership and inclusive governance.
He recalled the overwhelming support he received from across the state, saying the confidence the people reposed in him strengthened his conviction that, together, they could build a new chapter of progress and opportunity for Yobe citizens.
“Many of our supporters travelled long distances, spent sleepless nights, mobilised at the grassroots, and stood firmly with us throughout this journey. Their loyalty and sacrifices can never be forgotten,” he stated.
Despite the outcome not aligning with the expectations of many supporters, the Senator urged his followers to remain calm, united, peaceful, and committed to the collective interest of Yobe State, stressing that political setbacks should never divide the people or weaken their faith.
He emphasised that power ultimately belongs to Almighty Allah, who grants authority to whomsoever He wills and at the appointed time.
Bomai disclosed that after deep reflection, high-level consultations, and interventions by respected stakeholders, he resolved to step down from the gubernatorial contest in the interest of party unity and stability.
He assured supporters that his commitment to serving the people remains unwavering, stressing that the struggle for better education, youth empowerment, improved healthcare, security, economic opportunities, and quality representation is still alive.
