Benue govt boosts transport system, secures commercial park in Abuja

The Benue State Government has secured a commercial motor park to be operated permanently by the State-owned Benue Links Nigeria Limited in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of efforts meant to boost the transport network being covered and operated as an intra-and inter-state transit system.

The park which is just a stone throw from the temporary park currently being used by the company, is known as Kwalika Park and it is located in Durumi, along Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway in Abuja.

Performing the handover ceremony on behalf of the Benue State Government in Abuja, Omale Omale, Commissioner for Power, Renewable Energy and Transport, lamented operational challenges being experienced by Benue Links Nigeria Limited in Abuja due to lack of a permanent motor park.

He however noted that the Administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia, which is bent on providing permanent solutions to problem, decided to secure a permanent motor park for the company in order to put an end to issues of harrasment and embarrassment associated with the make-shift arrangement that was used to be in place.

Omale stated that owning a park in Abuja would further position Benue Links to take it prime position among state-owned transport companies in Nigeria and also enable it explore the possibility of extending the reliable and affordable transport services that it offers, to other parts of the country from Abuja.

He said that the State Government had also obtained a permanent park for Benue Links Nigeria Limited in Adikpo, kwande LGA of Benue State while plans were in advanced stage to also secure permanent parks in Otukpo, Gboko and Katsina-Ala for the company.

Responding, Alexander Fanafa, Acting General Manager of Benue Links Nigeria Limited, appreciated Governor Hyacinth Alia for his magnanimity towards the good people of Benue State, and for investing in only ventures that would take the State to enviable heights and also benefit the people directly.

He also thanked the governor for acquiring a Permanent motor park for the company in Abuja, after also just acquiring a permanent park for the company in Adikpo, Kwande LGA, with plans to also acquire parks in Otukpo, Gboko and Katsina-Ala soon.
