Auto clash claims two in Kogi, says FRSC

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyedeji Sunday has confirmed the death of two persons in a motor accident that occurred on Ogori/Magongo road in Kogi State.

Sunday made the confirmation in a chat with our correspondent on Friday, saying wrong overtaking was the cause of the accident.

He said: “The accident was between a commercial motorcyclist and a Toyota Venza Car. It was as a result of over-speeding and wrong overtaking. Two persons were confirmed dead and have since been deposited in a morgue nearby Edo State while other survived victims are receiving treatment at Ogori General Hospital in Kogi State.”

However, he advised motorists to avoid over speeding and wrong overtaking and strive to abide by the rules guiding driving.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened at about 2pm on Thursday.

It was also learnt that one victim of the accident died immediately while the other who was unconscious and rushed to Ogori General Hospital, later died after sustaining severe injuries.

One of the deceased victims, according to our findings, was identified as John Aisoni, a commercial motor cyclist in the Ogori/Magongo area of Kogi State, while the other is working in a micro-finance bank in the same Local Government.
