The Nigerian Army says it will strengthen its partnership with Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) to build and sustain formidable communication.

Taoreed Lagbaja, the chief of army staff (COAS), said this in a statement by Onyema Nwachkwu, the director of public relations, on Wednesday.

The statement was released after NIGCOMSAT management led by Tukur Lawal, its managing director, visited the COAS in Abuja.

The COAS appreciated the enduring collaboration between the army and NIGCOMSAT, adding that the agency had over the years, provided fast, reliable and secured communication to army formations. He said the collaboration had positively impacted on operational efficiency of the army.

Lagbaja pledged to sustain the collaboration between the army and NIGCOMSAT, stressing that the relationship with the agency had been rewarding.

On his part, the NIGCOMSAT MD commended the Nigerian Army for the feedback received on NIGCOMSAT services and the mutual collaboration between the two organisations.

Lawal said NIGCOMSAT was established to provide seamless connectivity and satellite communication through technological innovation.

He said it was imperative for the army to collaborate with NIGCOMSAT to promote operational efficiency and the territorial defence of the nation.

Lawal urged the Nigerian Army to actively participate in the next satellite launch by the agency, in furtherance of national defence and security, through collaborative development of secure communication infrastructure.

Both parties, however, maintained that there were challenges, which they both agreed to overcome to enhance productivity. NAN
