The troops of 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have apprehended Adamu Usman, a suspected gunrunner, recovering an illegally-fabricated submachine gun from him.
This is contained in a Press Statement issued on Friday by Olubodunde Oni, a Captain and Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Command in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The statement stated that “acting on credible intelligence, on 13 January 2025, troops swiftly launched a carefully planned operation at the suspect’s residence in Marraban Gassol of Gassol Local Government Area.

“During the search, troops discovered one fabricated Submachine Gun, which is believed to be connected to illegal arms trafficking activities”.
The statement however urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies to enable them to effectively address security challenges.
Speaking on the successful operations, Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Brigadier-General and Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by the troops and reassured the people of Taraba State of the Brigade’s resolve to continue to maintaining peace and combat illicit arms proliferation in the State.
