APC youth wing to empower 5000 with employability skills in Abuja

The APC National Youth Wing is poised to equip over 5,000 young individuals with critical workplace readiness and employability skills through its upcoming workplace readiness and employability skills training program.

The event, themed “I AM EMPLOYABLE,” would take place from June 4th to June 7th, 2024, in Abuja.

According to a statement by the organisers, the program will feature prominent speakers such as E.G Jibola Ponnle, former CIPM CEO and former Lagos Commissioner for Training; Niyi Adesanya, CEO of FifthGear Plus and management consultant; and Morayo Afolabi-Brown, a respected media personality.

The Organisers added that they will be joined by an impressive roster of trainers and facilitators including Tosin Adesina, Yeye-Mides Fabanwo, Njuara Njama, Dare Akinlaja, Jide Jinadu, Funke Oluwatimilehin, Elizabeth Ajala, Akin Akinpelu, Soji Adeniyi, Sam Obafemi, Oluseye Taiwo Adepoju, Lesley George, Abiola Champ, Jeph Oluwagbemiga, Stephen Akintayo, and Bode Shogo.

According to the statement, “Workplace Readiness and Employability Skills Training Program” (WREST) is designed to help young Nigerians, aged 16 and above, develop the core skills that employers seek.

“The training aims to improve their ability to secure jobs, retain employment, and navigate the labor market effectively.

“Participants will learn essential personal-branding skills for effective CV and resume presentation, core workplace competencies, innovative thinking, and strategies for thriving in a global society.

“This initiative, under the theme “I Am Employable,” represents a major effort by the APC National Youth Wing to enhance the economic capacity of young Nigerians. It aims to provide them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to their communities, thereby aiding in the nation’s structural transformation and economic growth by enhancing employability and labor productivity, and reducing unemployment.

“Part of the APC National Youth Strategic Plan 2024-2027, this initiative underscores Dayo Israel’s commitment to fostering youth empowerment and development through strategic initiatives and partnerships.

“The program targets youths, graduates, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, and individuals transitioning careers, aiming to boost their employability in today’s competitive job market”, said the Organisers.

APC National Youth Leader and Training Convener, Dayo Israel, in his remark, emphasized the program’s goals, stating that it will improve the economic capacity of young citizens.

“Our primary goal with this program is to improve the economic capacity of young Nigerians, especially young progressives, by empowering them with the necessary core skills that will enhance their ability to secure a job, retain employment, and move flexibly in the labor market.

“This initiative is a crucial step in our broader strategy to foster youth development and economic growth in Nigeria,” he said.
